Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Furuisugi Shiba Inu Kennel ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information this website collects, why we collect it, and how it is handled. It applies to everyone who visits the website, whether or not they contact us.

We are a small, family-based kennel in British Columbia, Canada. We run this website ourselves, we do not sell personal information, and we do not use advertising trackers.

Information We Collect

Information you submit to us. We collect only the information you choose to send us through our two forms:

  • Contact form — your name, email address, and the subject and message you write.
  • Puppy application form — your full name, email address, phone number (optional), location, why you are interested in a Shiba Inu, your experience with dogs, any preferences you select, and anything else you choose to share.

Information collected automatically. The website is hosted on servers that receive basic technical information when a page is viewed — for example your IP address, browser type, and the page requested — as recorded in standard server logs by our hosting provider, Netlify. We do not use this information to identify visitors, and this website has no analytics or tracking scripts.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information you submit to:

  • Respond to your inquiries about our dogs and puppies
  • Evaluate puppy applications and match puppies to suitable homes
  • Provide lifetime support to puppy families
  • Send occasional updates about litters and kennel news (only if you have requested them)

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising purposes. We share it only with the service providers needed to operate this website, as described below.

Cookies and Browser Storage

This website does not set cookies or use browser storage for ordinary browsing. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies.

The one exception is the Netlify Identity service used to log in to the website's content manager (the tool we use to edit the site's content). When someone logs in through Netlify Identity — an invited editor, or someone following an invitation or password-reset link — the login service stores a session in the browser (in local storage and a session cookie) until they log out. Regular visitors who do not use these login links are not affected.

TikTok and Instagram posts embedded on our Videos page run inside those platforms' own embedded frames; when you view them, those platforms may set their own cookies or collect their own data, according to their own privacy policies.

Analytics and Advertising

We do not use analytics tools, advertising networks, remarketing, or tracking scripts of any kind, and we do not build profiles of visitors.

Third-Party Services

To operate the website we rely on a small number of third-party services:

  • Netlify hosts the website and processes our forms. Contact and application submissions are sent directly to Netlify Forms and are stored in our Netlify account. Both forms include a hidden spam-prevention field ("honeypot"), and Netlify applies its own spam protection, which may use technical information such as your IP address and browser details. We read submissions only through our Netlify dashboard.
  • TikTok and Instagram provide the embedded posts shown on our Videos page. When you view that page, your browser connects to the platform hosting the post, and that platform may collect data according to its own policies. Links to our social media profiles take you to those platforms' websites, where their own policies apply.
  • Pexels provides a few stock photos used as default page banners and decorative images. These images are retrieved by our own servers and delivered from this website's domain, so your browser does not connect directly to Pexels.
  • GitHub hosts the repository in which the website's content is stored. Only invited editors can change content, through the content manager at /admin; visitors do not submit content to this repository.

We do not send your personal information to any other service.

Data Retention

We keep contact and application submissions in our Netlify account for as long as they are useful for responding to you, evaluating applications, and supporting our puppy families, and we delete them when they are no longer needed. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us. Content published to the website through the content manager is stored in the website's repository and its history, and removing it from the website does not remove it from that history.

Children's Privacy

This website is intended for adults interested in our kennel, and our forms are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

International Visitors

This website is operated from British Columbia, Canada and is hosted by Netlify, a United States-based company with servers and content-delivery locations in several countries. If you submit a form, your information may be processed in Canada, the United States, or other countries where Netlify operates, as part of providing the service.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we handle. The website is served over HTTPS with security headers, access to the content manager is by invitation only, and the text shown on the website is sanitized so that visitors can never inject code through the content. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Choices

  • You are never required to provide more information than you wish. Only the fields marked as required are necessary, and you are welcome to contact us by email instead of using a form.
  • You may ask us at any time to see, correct, or delete the personal information you have submitted. Send your request through our contact page and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time as the website changes. The date below shows when it was last updated.
